In the 1990s, she won the prestigious Lee Jung-seop Art Award and is now considered one of the leading figures of the South Korean art scene. Her artworks have been exhibited around the world. Although she was drawn to art from a young age, post-war Korea was not particularly supportive of female artists. An act of creation was, in a way, regarded as an act of defiance. Today, almost 90 years old, Yun Suk-nam continues to defy the male-dominated world of (not only) Korean art and open doors for dozens of other women artists. In Pink Moon, director and cinematographer Yoon Han-seok narrates her story by combining interviews, archival footage and intimate observational scenes capturing the artist at work.
